Congress
In general terms, a congress is an official gathering of people who are elected or appointed to represent populations of people.
As used by most bloggers who use the tag here in Technorati, the reference is to the United States Congress, which is the United States Federal Government's legislative branch. US Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Each of the 50 states has 2 Senators and several representatives. The number of representatives a state has is tied to its population.
Congress holds its meetings in the United States Capitol building in Washington, DC, which ironically, as a district and not a state, does not have congresspersons with voting rights.
