Conservatives
Social conservatives, generally, believe in the importance of tradition and traditional values in preservation of a nation and its culture. Overall, conservatives believe that steps must be taken to protect a way of life based on simple and pure values, and that social change should not be embraced purely for the sake of change itself. However, of the millions who consider themselves conservatives, there is a wide range of belief and practice; this is consistently evident in the online world.
In the blogosphere, conservatives generally oppose themselves to liberals in political and cultural debates. Just as there are moderate conservatives, so are there extremists; in the politically-charged climate of the online world, extreme opinions and pundits can sometimes drown out more moderate voices.
Fiscal conservatism, which can be practiced by social conservatives and liberals alike, promotes a reduction in government spending. Fiscal conservatives often advocate deregulation of the economy, balancing the federal budget, and reducing the national debt.
