Portuguese soccer phenom Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born on February 5, 1985 in Funchal, Madeira. As a free-scoring attacking midfielder, Cristiano Ronaldo is known for his fantastic technical skills that consistently leave defenders scratching their heads. Ronaldo plays as a winger for popular Spanish club Real Madrid and serves as captain of the Portuguese national team.

Ronaldo currently holds the distinction of being the most expensive player in soccer history after having transferred to Real Madrid from Manchester United in a deal reportedly worth $132 million...David Beckham who?

Amongst his countless individual accolades, Cristiano Ronaldo was selected as the FIFA "World Player Of The Year" in 2008.
