Daily Kos
"Daily Kos" is a popular liberal/progressive political weblog founded by Markos Moulitsas (Zúniga) on May 26, 2002. According to Moulitsas (kos), "while the Bush administration was calling descent in the face of the preemptive war in Iraq unpatriotic and treasonous, veteran, Moulitsas was offended that the freedoms he pledged his life for were so carelessly being tossed aside by the reckless and destructive Republican administration". The weblog contains "political analysis and other daily rants on the state of the Nation".
"Daily Kos" is collaborative in that users can register and post in a diary. As of December 2008, however, it is rare for any old diary writer to get featured. "Daily Kos" 2008 features an editor, publisher, Moulitas, and executive editor, several contributing editors and a couple of featured writers. You will find diaries from many people of prominence, from Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi to former president Jimmy Carter.
As of December, 2008, "Daily Kos" consistently ranked in the top 50 of all weblogs as well as in the technorati top 100. Daily Kos calls itself "the premiere political community on the web".
