The Stars players are starting to gather in Frisco and working out each day about 9:45 a.m. Everyone appears healthy and ready to go. Among the walking wounded from the end of last season who look great are: Sergei Zubov, Brenden Morrow and Jere Lehtinen.

Stars coach Dave Tippett was given the Tom Landry Coaches Award and Mike Modano received the Emmitt Smith End Zone Award at the Dallas All Sports Association's annual banquet Tuesday night. The Landry Award is given to the region's top coach for this year, and Tippett helped push the Stars to the Western Conference finals.

Marty Turco Welcomes Third Child!

Dallas Stars goalie, Marty Turco, has a new son! He was born on August 18, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas and weighed 8 lbs, 5 oz. This is the third child for the Turco family (and first boy!). Turco has two daughters: Hailey, 6, and Katelyn, 4.

The Stars have released their television schedule for this season. They also have changed start times on a few games. Here are new game times: Saturday, Oct. 18, vs. Colorado _ 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Calgary _ 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, vs. LA _ 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, vs. Chicago _ 1 p.m.

The Stars are getting it ready. Sixty-two games on FSN, which is great for pre and post-game, but not so great for The Open Net (available only on KDFI). All regular season games will be televised. By the looks of it, no preseason game will be on TV. They currently are working on getting as many games as possible in HD.

In case you missed the hockey team last season, now you can catch the Dallas Stars Energy Drink. I found this can at Target at Skillman and Abrams yesterday. While the drink itself is fairly typical of its genre (fizzy, sugary and urpy), its Web site’s Incredible Hulk-like participants made me weepy for the Lou Ferrigno version of the Marvel comic book character.
