Danica Patrick

American auto racing driver Danica Sue Patrick was born on March 25, 1982 in Beloit, Wisconsin. A shining star in a sport traditionally governed and controlled by men, Danica Patrick found her way into the Indy Racing League by earning a spot on the Rahal Letterman Racing team in 2002.

Danica's love for all things speed started when she was just 10 years old after taking part in a go-karting lesson with her sister Brooke. She was quickly hooked on the sport, joining the World Karting Association and winning several championships shortly thereafter.

Throughout her adolescence, Danica continued to rise through the ranks of assorted racing leagues, and by 2002, she was able to secure a spot in the Indy Racing League.

As one of the most prominent female athletes of her generation (among the likes of Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, and Annika Sorenstam), Danica Patrick won at Twin Ring Motegi in the Indy Japan 300 on April 20, 2008, becoming the first woman to ever win an IndyCar race.

Danica made headlines in February 2008 when she posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
