I should not sympathize with Javon Walker. Abiding closely to the strictures of hallowed fan logic, Javon should forever catch my enmity. However, as Javon's strange journey unfolds, the insults I once heaped upon him, the ones spat out during his rocky departure from Green Bay, fade into distant memory.

Sportaphile has dedicated a decent amount of time to Javon Walker in the past, from his mind boggling contract with Oakland to his bizarre mugging in Las Vegas. Somehow this guy just can’t stay out of the news and his NFL career gets weirder by the minute.

This is big. Darrent Williams’s killer has been identified by another gang member. Earlier there was proof through a letter that gang member Willie D. Clark had killed him. Now it is nearly rock solid.  9NEWS Colorado broke the news early this morning. ”He fired the weapon,” the source said, referring to gang member Willie Clark.

The professional sports leagues are stepping up to prevent any gang-related activities. The NFL will be reviewing game tapes to ensure players are not flashing hand signals of street gangs.  I mean, players have to watch out with their touchdown celebrations even more!

Commissioner Roger Goodell is continuing to clean-up player conduct in the NFL. Yesterday, multiple media outlets reported that the league and “experts” have been reviewing tapes of celebrations where players made possible gang signs with their hands. The experts they hired are supposedly knowledgeable on gang signs and activity.

Paul Pierce flashed a gang sign last year during an NBA playoff game. Pierce plays for the Boston Celtics and was fined $25,000 for the display. You can see him do the gang sign at the 30 second mark on the video. The gang sign Paul Pierce flashed was a letter B, an unmistakable emblem of the Piru Bloods.

I was a little harsh on Javon Walker last week for spraying champagne in the club and getting beaten up on his way home. The thought of him doing the exact same thing the night Darrent Williams was killed simply didn’t sit well with me. This new tidbit of information about that fateful weekend certainly won’t help.
