Deep Creek Lake
Deep Creek Lake, in Garrett County, is the largest inland body of water in the state of Maryland. The state run lake is popular for fishing, boating, and water sports such as water skiing. Surrounded by the mountains, the area is also popular with campers, hiker and adventure sports enthusiasts. The Wisp Resort attracts tourists in the winter with downhill skiing, snow tubing and cross country skiing.
Located within a few hours drive from Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Washington D.C., Deep Creek is a popular Mid Atlantic second home spot and vacation destination. Although the local real estate market has experienced a setback with the recent economic turbulence, the area is still attracting visitors due to it's close proximity to these major metropolitan areas.
