Diet
When used as a noun diet can refer to what you eat and drink regularly, what you experience regularly, or a regimen of limiting food intake so as to lose weight. With the prevalence of obesity in today's world, most people use it to refer to a weight loss eating regimen, being "on a diet."
While weight loss is generally a simple mathematical matter of taking in fewer calories than you use each day, many diets promise fast results by restricting sugars, fats, carbs, and even cooked food. Such restrictive diets tend to be difficult to maintain and unrealistic for long term weight loss and maintenance.
Even worse are the many diet pills on the market, most of which are unregulated, do not work, and at worst can cause bad side effects, long term illness, and even death. All experts seems to agree that the best diet is one with a wide variety of nutritious foods eaten at regular intervals throughout the day.
