Dinner

Dinner is usually served as the main meal of the day, whether prepared at home or eaten in a restaurant. The eating of dinner together as a family unit, especially for younger children, has been associated with increased family cohesion and healthy communication.

Many find it difficult to make time to eat a proper dinner, preferring to grab something from a fast-food restaurant or place that offers takeaway. Followers of the Once a Month Cooking strategy (OAMC) prefer to cook several meals at once which they stockpile for future meals for reasons of economy and efficiency. Others, prefer to incorporate any dinner leftovers in bento boxes which they bring to work for lunch. Another popular option is the use of slow cookers, which allow people to safely setup a meal to cook while they are out at work, while others rely on convenience foods and microwave cooking.
