In earlier times, there were no modern drugs or medications to treat such conditions. Some of the afflicted got better with good nursing care, nourishment, rest and clean water, but most would have died from their disease. Today, many diseases can be cured and any pain can be controlled.

When we talk about disease, we usually mean any condition that causes us extreme pain, distress, malfunction or even death. the About.com Heart Blog contains information about proper heart health care, diseases which affect the heart, and a prevention guide.
