Dragon Quest

The popular Dragon Quest series of role playing video games was known in North America as "Dragon Warrior" in the late 80s and early 90s. They also bred a couple of Pokémon-style games for Game Boy called Dragon Warrior Monsters. Originating before Final Fantasy but after Ultima, the series has always been more popular in Japan than it was in North America.

But thanks to the Internet, the popularity of Dragon Quest can be joined at the global seams. Blogospherical discussion has, like any other video game, revolved around how to beat the game more easily. How can you learn eight spells for the Hero quickly in Dragon Warrior III? How do you forge the Liquid Metal Sword in Dragon Warrior VIII? And so forth.

But it's not all tip-sharing, map-raking and cheat-swapping. Sometimes, Dragon Quest fans just come up with the silliest ideas and make slimes, the series' signature enemy peon, out of snow.
