Duffy

Aimee Anne Duffy, known professionally as Duffy, is a Welsh singer whose debut album, Rockferry, has made quite a splash in the music industry. She has been dubbed one of the "new Amys," a reference to Amy Winehouse and the singers that have sprung out of the same movement in the UK.

Duffy's vocals made her the first Welsh female to achieve a number one pop single in the last 25 years. The single "Mercy" grabbed the honour.

Since the release of Rockferry, Duffy has gathered some international acclaim. She had "Mercy" featured on a variety of American television shows, including ER and the season finale of Grey's Anatomy. It also made the soundtrack of the Sex and the City film. Duffy's success also took her to Saturday Night Live, where she performed two songs.

The future for Duffy looks bright and, if the success of Rockferry is any indication, she should be around for a good, long while.
