    I have recently held an email converstaion with an experienced government auditor who stated that - Business process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) are heavily reliant on metrics / measures.  Unfortunately, the data councils collect for their performance indicators is usually not adequate not robust enough for meaningful improvement initiatives.

    What is FISMA?

    The Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) is part of the E-Government Act, which became a law in December 2002.  Title III of the E-Government Act is FISMA.  FISMA basically requires all government agencies to perform a Risk Based methodology on all information systems run by agencies and their contractors.

    Last week I was presenting the results of some user testing and prototype design to a group of executives, including senior IT and marketing people. The session went pretty well (it should have done, the work is robust and very high quality). At the end, the assembled group were pressed for comments.
