For those investors seeking profit now, rather than after a market recovery, growth-oriented exchange traded funds (ETFs) appear to be outpacing the value. One of the biggest reasons this is happening is because of inflation. Large-cap value companies take a hit from rising input costs when inflation hits.

Market volatility continued in August, which led to mixed performance for major indexes and exchange traded funds (ETFs).  The Dow Jones industrial average ended the month down slightly by 0.3%, the S&P 500 was basically flat, but the Nasdaq gained 1.6%.

As the market for exchange traded funds (ETFs) continues to expand, problems with the mutual fund market contributed greatly to this growth. Chuck Jaffe for the Boston Herald examines the mutual fund world and how five years ago, it was plagued by the biggest scandal in the 80-year history of the industry.

Good day today for the ETF Lazy 13 fund. So far up 1.81% (at 9:30 PM, Brussels Time).We did have a pullback from the China ETF (FXI) ; several China telecom stocks got hit pretty hard.Energy ETF (XLE) and Oil service ETF (OIH) dropped as well ; but our savior du jour was the Financial ETF (XLF).

The ETF Lazy 13 portfolio did well today, boosted by the China ETF (FXI) and a bounce up from the Russia ETF (RSX).Remember, this is a buy & hold ETF fund.
