Paris Photo 2008 honoring Japanese photography, just ended yesterday. It was a truly successful fair for Aperture! Here are a few highlights from the Aperture booth and our book signing event at colette. On Thursday, legendary Japanese photographer Eikoh Hosoe dropped by the booth to sign copies of the recently launched first edition facsimile reissue of Barakei.

Swiss-born Italian photographer Christian Tagliavini also knows a thing or two about mid-century malaise. He counts Erwin Olaf as an inspiration and it's clear to see why. His 2007 Cromofobia series made the recent issue of Eyemazing and "Dad" (below) made the cover.

Several artists who have been featured in Aperture publications have been selected as honorees for the 2008 Lucie Awards! The Lucies are an annual awards ceremony conducted to honor and award the best in the field of photography.

Next month photographer Erwin Olaf will be opening and exhibition at the Museum of Photography in The Hague. On display will be an extensive collection of work spanning the last four years. (more…)
