I hope many investors were also reminded at how the world is changing and why they need a global portfolio to capture value and growth around the world.

Can China Carry the Post-Olympic Torch?
http://seekingalpha.com/ article/ 93181-can-china-carry-the-post-olympic-torch?s…GOING FOR GOLD What an event and what a show it was in celebration of the Olympics in Beijing, China. This was a peaceful event that transpired amid turbulent times for the entire world to share and participate in what seemed, by all measurable accounts, the public coming-out party that lived up to the hype and far exceeded what most imagined.

China: Post Olympic Slowdown
http://seekingalpha.com/ article/ 93099-china-post-olympic-slowdown?source=feedI was in Shanghai for the past two days and so wasn’t able to write anything on my blog, although it doesn’t seem like a whole lot has happened recently to add to our understanding of the Chinese economy. The stock market continues to behave poorly, with the SSE Composite dropping 2.6% on Tuesday and 0.3% Wednesday before reversing Wednesday’s losses to close up 0.3% today at 2350.

Shanghai's Own Stock Market Rules
http://seekingalpha.com/ article/ 92369-shanghai-s-own-stock-market-rules?source…When I first moved to Shanghai in 2004, I was told by a lot of old China hands that “Shanghai is not China”. That saying has been true for most of the 150 years that Shanghai has existed. She has always been China’s gateway to the rest of the world and was usually allowed to play by her own rules.

China and Starbucks' Late Stage Growth Obesity
http://seekingalpha.com/ article/ 92327-china-and-starbucks-late-stage-growth-ob…I had my TV service disconnected at home for awhile now, don’t want my kids to become TV-addicts. We reconnected it so we could watch Olympics – I am glad we did. The opening ceremony was incredible. It was a demonstration of Chinese might, but not through a communist-by-the-book parade of nuclear weapons and marching (expressionless) soldiers – this doesn’t impress anyone, not anymore.

http://seekingalpha.com/ article/ 92097-fast-food-is-becoming-more-expensive-in-…Wednesday for the first time I attended the Bird’s nest and the Olympic complex. It is beautifully designed, well laid out, and very easy to maneuver. I hope that they leave everything open after the Olympics, although it is hard to know what kind of events can draw the kinds of crowds in Beijing needed to keep the Bird’s Nest even partially filled.
