When Facebook launched its advertising platform last year, there were a few issues  - ordinary members could create ‘Fan Pages’. So fans started creating pages around their favourite brands.   But there was a problem – when advertisers want to advertise with Facebook, they are requested to 1st create a fan page and then buy social ads.

Just an update for RSS readers becasue many have inquired what happened that resulted in my Facebook Account being deleted. Nick O’Neill has a post at AllFacebook explaining what happened. I have been in contact with both Ralph Lauren and Facebook and hope to be back soon.

This past New Year’s I made Ten Predictions for 2008 on this blog, including a bonus, eleventh prediction… Well that eleventh prediction has come true: I have been kicked off Facebook for what is, in my opinion, a really big mistake/misunderstanding.

This was bound to happen eventually. When Facebook launched fan pages, a lot of users jumped at the opportunity to create fan pages for large brands. Whether television shows or clothing brands, it was technically against the terms of service and now users are having their pages taken down and the brands are having the pages transferred to internal accounts.

FaceBook will remove its Network Pages. FaceBook has placed a warning messages that Network Pages will be removed and user can communicate using Groups. Network Pages is a feature which allows members of a particular network to view and interact with a variety of data, such as Wall postings, marketplace listings, statistics on the most popular things in their network, and popular groups.

This appears at the top of my network pages in a yellow box Network Pages will be discontinued soon Facebook will soon be removing Network Pages from the site. Please keep this in mind when communicating with others on the Wall and on the discussion board. You can use Groups to connect with the people around you.
