Meet Boo - Short-Haired Semi-Feral Cat
http://carolannerhardt.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ meet-boo-short-haired-semi-feral-…Boo is a beautiful, sleek-coated male. As a tiny kitten, he was the most inquisitive of all the babies. Though he was one of the first to be trapped and sent to the vet, he didn't run away after being released. He'd jump on the traps and try his best to get back inside to get food when we tried to catch the remaining more timid cats.

Meet Molly - Short-Haired Calico Feral Cat
http://carolannerhardt.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ meet-molly-short-haired-calico-fe…Molly likes to sleep in the woodpile under our deck. She feels protected there since it is completely closed in with lattice and a closed door. Molly will let us pet her while she's waiting for the food trays to be put down. I first met Molly as a very tiny kitten with a loud cry.

Happy Mother’s Day
http://midgiesmom.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 11/ happy-mothers-day/To all who are moms to their feline friends and their canine companions. Boy, I’m gone a month and come back to find a new way to insert photos and it’s not working. I don’t like it. It’s been a month of working like a crazy person, then just collapsing with a bad case of writer’s block. Not good when you make your living this way.

She is also the inspiration behind item #198 in this year's scav hunt: "Take down the Maroon [11 points]." Please give a warm welcome to Claire McNear.

PETA killing cats
http://cat-chitchat.pictures-of-cats.org/ 2008/ 05/ peta-killing-cats.htmlThere was an article in a newpaper recently (forget where) which said that the need to kill (the sanitized word is "euthanized") trapped feral cats was unnecessary. The problem is not that there are too many cats to re-home through the rescue centers but that there were not enough volunteers involved and therefore not enough "outreach" to facilitate the re-homing process.

Feral Cats in The News
http://thecatsite.com/ blog/ 25/ feral-cats-in-the-news.htmlFeral cats have always been near and dear to my heart. Those often misunderstood felines share the exact same genetic makeup as our precious pet cats. They are not wild animals. I have always felt that we, as human beings, share a collective responsibility towards their fate.

Kittens, Kittens, Everywhere
http://www.arkanimals.com/ 2008/ 05/ 09/ kittens-kittens-everywhere/Kittens, Kittens, Everywhere I can hear the ahhhhs over the above kitten picture but my reaction this week is not so fuzzy. I have been getting cranky over all of the people dumping their animals or trying to re-home them.

Happy Mother's Day!
http://washhumane.typepad.com/ blog/ 2008/ 05/ happy-mothers-d.htmlBy: Bridget Speiser, Program Manager: CatNiPP Mother's Day seems like a really appropriate time to reflect on all that the Washington Humane Society is doing to support the effort of animal population control through our various spay & neuter programs.
