I went to a Mexican Fiesta potluck party recently, and decided that with all the rice, beans and meat that were sure to appear, we could use a fresh vegetable dish. This salad is probably nothing like any real south of the border dish, but it's very good as a Mexican accompaniment or one-dish meal on a light night.

tonight we performed at Hurricanes Bar and Grill in Huntington Beach, CA, for Cinco De Mayo 08. the Miller Chill Girls showed up. they hung out and danced with the Mariachis that showed up and played before we performed. lots of dancing all night!

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the bictory of the Mexican forces ober the Frensh forces in the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862. A jeer later the Frensh kicked our ass, so I ron get why we celobrate this as a holiday???? Anyhow, the Jewnited States celobrates this as a day of Mexican heritage and pride.

It was hot as hell on Sunday, but nothing keeps us Latinos from attending Fiesta Broadway year after year. Although waiting in line to spin for the chance to win silly prizes in 110-degree weather sounds stupid to some people, for others the wait was worth samples of simple green and shampoo.

It just so happens that we were in Mexico during three Kings Day! So of course we had to have the special bread were we find the hidden baby jesus.  Usually the person who find the baby jesus has to make the tameles for the party two weeks later, but we had already left town - so we let erica and tanya off the hook.  yes - our Rosca had TWO baby jesuses!  thank you Leah for getting the bread!
