A first-aid kit is commonly a box, bag, package, or other encasement that holds bandages, gauze, medical tape, antiseptic, aspirin, isopropyl alcohol wipes, tweezers, scissors, and other equipment necessary for a first responder or for self-administration in either an emergency or a more simplistic incident/accident.

A first-aid kit is traditionally mobile in nature and lightweight to allow for quick transfer leading to efficient response times. Some of the most common mishaps requiring the use of a first-aid kit are cuts, scrapes, and bruises. The more severe medical emergencies that call upon the use of first-aid kits include burns, unconsciousness, and heavy bleeding.
