Forex trading, which is also commonly known as Currency Trading, involves the exchange of one nations currencies for one another.

Most of the trading volume in the Foreign Exchange market comes from large banks and institutions moving funds from one currency to another. These transactions are often for corporate clients.

On the retail site many speculators attempt to trade Forex for profit; similar to traders in the stock market. In the last 10 years advances have allowed for individuals to participate in the Forex market with accounts small or large.  A great sum of retail Forex Brokers have sprung up in the last several years and this has led to greater interest in trading Forex.

In the United States Forex trading is still not as popular as trading in the Stock or Futures markets, however it continues to see growth each year. 

It is important that new traders wanting to learn forex gain a proper Forex Education. Many blogs on the internet provide advice, but you must also be careful and learn to make your own trading descisions.  Many websites sell Forex Trading Systems which do not live up to the promises they make and many are get rich quck schemes.  To truly learn to trade Forex it takes some hard work and dedication. You must treat it like a business as you would with any other profession.
