Forum

Depending upon whether you are speaking in terms of online activity or in the real world, the word forum takes on a different distinctive meaning, although it is still very related in both cases. The point of a forum in either instance has as its goal to focus on an assigned topic and to get ideas related to it to be heard, conveyed, and discussed in a non-threatening way, allowing every individual who wishes to a chance to weigh in with his or her own opinion on the topic or subject matter.

In the case of a public forum, there is a central meeting place where members and visitors may gather to discuss topics relevant to the designed purpose or stated mission of the forum.

Online forums are somewhat similar to chat rooms and instant messaging, with the important distinction that the various users need not be logged in at the same time to interact.

Bloggers speaking about forums can be found at sites like forumblog and forexforums.

  On windows vista trying to compose some music to a QuickTime video. On my pc (quad core) the session is choppy unless I close the video window itself. If. Take the exact same session and play it on a dualcore iMac at school the session plays fine. QuickTime file plays fine in vlc or QuickTime 7.6. Any suggestions?
