GM
GM is the abbreviated, commonly used name to identify General Motors, the second largest maker of automobiles in the world. For generations the GM brand has been a symbol of both American ingenuity and affluence, employing some 250,000 people as recently as 2008. GM brands include such cars as Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC.
On June 1, 2009 GM filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy following months of speculation and rumor, and after receiving bailout money from the U.S. government as a part of its economic stimulus plan. The current plan is for the company to re-emerge "leaner and meaner" in a few months, also with the assistance of government funds.
GM, as well as other companies feeling the effects of the economic downturn, are hot topics throughout the blogosphere as a result. In the case of GM, you can find plenty of talk on both financial sites and at GM blogs like GM Fastlane.
