    Time and again I have received different email invitations to join a social networking site, social bookmarking site, or an online classmates/alumni directory. Indeed, I have signed up for some of the major, legitimate ones. I have met existing friends through these services.

    Just in case you’ve been in a cave (virtual or otherwise) and like me haven’t heard about this until now, anybody using “G-Archinver” is advised to change their GMail passwords immediately. Apparently this thing has been collecting login information and sending it to one of the program’s developers.

    Yet another example that you always have to be on your guard. From Information Week: On Friday, Coding Horror, a popular blog run by programmer Jeff Atwood, published allegations that a Windows shareware application for archiving Gmail messages called G-Archiver steals users’ Gmail login details.

    There's quite a commotion online about a program called g-archiver that promises to back up your Gmail account, but in the process apparently harvests all users' Gmail usernames and passwords, and mails them to a separate Gmail account.
