Score one FOR the god squad and AGAINST free speech and expression. An Ontario billboard company is removing a controversial billboard promoting atheism after receiving complaints, according to the "Freedom From Religion Foundation," The billboard was at a busy corner and said, "Imagine No Religion" in large letters on a stained-glass background.

Religious people are forever banging on about wanting their beliefs to be respected and not to be offended, delicate little flowers that they are. Yep, plays, books , art mustn't be nasty about their particular superstition yet they happily come out with offensive crap themselves.

I really love graphic novels (comics, trade paperbacks, whatever your nomenclature of choice is). Part of it has to do with how busy I am; between my family, my job, and regaling all of you with my sparkling prose, when I sit down to read something the last thing I want to pick up is War and Peace.

Assorted conservatives and homophobes are tryng to force their pathetic fear of same-sex attraction on the entire population of California by pushing a vote on Proposition 8. Amusingly, while the bigots named their proposal The California Marriage Protection Amendment, California Attorney General Jerry Brown renamed it the rather more accurate 'Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry Act'.

Torbay Council has finally seen sense and lifted the God-squad-inspired ban on the 'Life Of Brian'. Yes, for years the Bible-bashers prevented the residents of Torbay and surrounding areas from watching one of the world's greatest comedy films, with their minority tut-tutting obstructing everyone else's right to sinful pleasure.

The Brazilian action-crime film “Elite Squad” (originally released as “Tropa de Elite“) opens today in New York. The movie, which continues the favela crime sub-genre made popular by “City of God”, had the highest grossing box office take in history in Brazil.

Film and politics have never sat well together. Indeed, Hollywood comprises mainly of liberals, hence we get an unbalanced quantity of output. And when conservatives try to make movies, you get silly films like An American Carol, an attempt to be satirical while being as subtle as a coked-up bull in a Faberge egg store.
