Houston

Founded in 1836 with a current population of 2.2 million and dubbed the Space City, Houston is the number one city in which to live, work, and play according to Kiplinger. As one of the great cities located in the lone star state of Texas, Houston is a melting pot and a leading center for women and minority-owned businesses. The Port of Houston is among the nation's largest and busiest, and Houston remains the energy capital of the U.S. despite an oil bust in the 1980s.

There are a variety of cultural destinations for visitors arriving in Houston. Houston is also the home of the Rockets, Aeros, WNBA Comets, and Dynamos. Nearby cities include: The Woodlands, Sugar Land, League City, Friendswood, Katy, Cypress, and Galveston.

The NASA Johnson Space Center is located in Houston. Houston is also home to Memorial Hermann Healthcare System along with several other large primary care and cancer centers. The Texas Medical Center in Houston is the world's largest concentration of health care and research institutions.
