Humour
Humour is the interpretation of a situation or event to find the comedy. Humour is an ability and a basic human reaction and skill that can bring people together. The use of humour can describe uncomfortable or delicate events and conditions and introduce people to subjects the may otherwise normally reject.
This can make humour, and it’s more demonstrative relation to comedy, a powerful marketing tool because of the sense of intimacy it creates between the creator and the amused. The level and nature of the humour or joke or can directly target a very specific group of people or amuse a wide group. It is said that the demographics of humour are nine to ninety - a grandchild and grandfather can laugh at the same thing.
Humour and it’s cousin wit are often signs of a quick thinking brain and certainly of a person that can look at the world laterally or in a different way. This makes the humourist or comedian, like many musicians, have a special place or relationship within their audience – the ability to make the audience laugh is considered by many as a great gift.
Humour is not to be confused with the patronizing action of ‘humouring’ someone, which ultimately will not endear you to anyone..
