    Some Day…

    http://biopsy.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 25/ some-day/

Do you have health insurance or is this something you’ve put off until another day? If you’re young, fit and healthy, the chances are you’ve never really given your health much thought. Why would you worry when you haven’t had to face huge medical bills? With the rapid privatisation of our health service, health care in Ireland is becoming more like the 2-tier system in the States.

It’s not a PIG line, it’s PICC line.

    http://tomcollins.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 08/ its-not-a-pig-line-its-picc-line/…

Would have posted last night, but I was more than a little run down from the picc line and my first infusion. All went well. Arrived at the hospital at 8.32am with Chik-fila in hand, tried to down my breakfast as we waited to be called to check in. Check in went smoothly and we headed down to x-ray, dropped off paper work and took a seat.

    In Again!

    http://treatingrhys.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 05/ in-again/

Came back from Aunty Jackie’s and came into hospital for platelets. Was going to have them yesterday in Bristol but had today instead. They said they would be ready at 9, we got here at quarter to eleven and I had them at quarter to twelve. Took 20 minutes to take.

    Memory Lane

    http://biopsy.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 03/ 23/ memory-lane/

This day last year, I boarded a Ryanair flight to Nottingham with a bag packed with enough things to last for six weeks. I had no idea how long I’d be away and yet I only had one spare set of clothes packed. This was no holiday. I was en route to an NHS hospital to undergo major surgery on my skull.

    MRSA and Infection Control

    http://biopsy.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 02/ 13/ mrsa-and-infection-control/

A recent report has shown that Ireland has the third highest rate of incidence of MRSA in the EU. The over-prescribing of antibiotics, poor hospital layout and poor hospital and personal hygiene are the main factors responsible for the high rate of MRSA infection.
