Three more days to Independence Day! Wasn’t even aware of this until a couple of days or so. Can’t blame it on me. With political chaos that has visibly plagued Malaysia since last year, it is no surprising the spirit of patriotism has been overshadowed by a sense of (political) uncertainty and the need to recover from post-crisis reactions to petrol price hike and inflation, among others.

Remember that scene in Independence Day when Jeff Goldblum’s character suggests the U.S. upload a computer virus to the alien mothership in order to take it out? It’s one of Hollywood’s greatest moments, obviouslly. Well, it turns out that something along those lines has just happened, minus Will Smith, invading aliens, and exploding skyscrapers.
