Every months a group of investors meets at SFU Time Center in downtown Vancouver, for a 2-3 hour meeting, where early stage startups give their pitch in hope that they will find some interested investors. Some startups just want the cash, most companies ask for cash, plus mentorship, others are just in the conception stage and all they want is mentorship.

So here’s my rather belated post looking at a couple of interesting breakout sessions at Manchester’s recently concluded  b.TWEEN08 conference. For the uninitiated, this post is part of a series covering the b.TWEEN08 conference that took place at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry from 18-20 June.

Following up on Basil’s post about Funding Your Startup, now is probably a good time to mention Fundfindr. This enterprising Web 2.0 start-up out of Vancouver touts itself as speed-dating for entrepreneurs.

Vancouver’s tech scene has been humming with activity and geeky professionals like myself have been running around like crazy people trying to keep up with everything from Techvibes LPV4 gala to the VIDFEST conference (Superstar Vancouver bloggers Miss604 and Hummingbird604 have done a great job keeping everyone updated).

The escalator is the new elevator when it comes to pitching and the emerging practice of micro public relations. While some bloggers and reporters are actively blacklisting PR people, whether it's fair or not, it's not truly fixing or changing anything at a grand scale - at least not yet.
