Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival is Back
http://www.strangerdance.com/ hardly-strictly-bluegrass-festival-2008/The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival is coming back to Golden Gate Park October 3-5. This year’s lineup is as impressive as we’ve come to expect, featuring a good mix of bluegrass (Del McCoury Band, Earl Scruggs, Hazel Dickens, etc.), bluegrass-friendly (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Loudon Wainwright III, etc.) and distinctly non-bluegrass (Gogol Bordello) artists.

Tunes for the non-Creative Class
http://www.bythefault.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ tunes-for-the-non-creative-class/We’re Not the Jet Set by John Prine with Iris DeMent. Seems appropriate for Clinton today in West Virginia. They can have their hip hop. I’ll take good old American folk any day. And I wonder if Obama can carry Rome, Georgia; Athens, Texas; and Paris, Tennessee?

Iris Dement:know her stuff, you should.
http://pipetop.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 07/ iris-dement-if-you-dont-know-here-st…Had the chance to hear and see Iris Dement last weekend in historic Lexington MA. Wow, she is a rare talent: amazing song writer, truly unique voice and she has the potential to cross-over to a much larger “Indie” audience, beyond country. I was a bit surprised by the older skewed audience of few hundred at the performance.
