Probably 50 people… A little over 3 months ago, ICV’s Jonathan Shapira and Gene Dolgin initiated the Israel Cleantech Meetup group. Each meetup being a networking opportunity for Israel’s growing Cleantech community.

Today’s morning started with the 3rd Cleantech Israel “meetup” . The group found a new venue, since it is quickly outgrew Herzelia’s Max Brenner cafe… Each meetup brings new faces, eager to get involved in Israel’s renewable energy, water and environmental technology sectors.

As anyone who’s watched all six Star Wars films can tell you, the start of a story is often better than the end. Especially when it comes to news stories, let Greenbang tell you. However, Greenbang’s going to make an exception today and bring you the story of a green tech fund that’s just closed.

Hey Israel’s green-leaning innovators, Israel Cleantech Ventures, a firm focused on funding green technology innovations in Israel, said this morning that it’s closed $75 million for its debut fund. The firm has been around since 2006 and has already made seven investments, many of which we’ve profiled on Earth2Tech.

Passing by its target of $60 million, new Israeli venture firm Israel Cleantech Ventures has raised $75 million for its official first fund from backers including Robeco and Piper Jaffray. Claiming to be Israel’s first cleantech-focused fund, the firm already has bets on some companies, and is planning on investments across most of the cleantech sectors.

Today (May 5th), Israel Cleantech Ventures (ICV) announced today that it reached a final close of $75 million for its first fund, significantly exceeding expectations from its original target of $60M. ICV will invest in Israeli companies (or Israel-realted) in renewable energy, water purification, energy efficiency and clean technology.

Israel Cleantech Ventures has announced the completion of its first fund, a $75 million vehicle that will target alternative energy and other cleantech startups based in or with connections to Israel.

Startech Early Ventures is trying to connect between Israeli hi-tech and Texas investors, according to Globes.  Similar to Virginia’s Gateway America (which I mentioned in an earlier post), Startech is aiming to help Texas boost trade relations with Israel and capitalize on Israel’s robust growth in the technology sector.
