If you read TPM, you may have occasionally noticed that their TPM Cafe hosts regular book discussions.  Sometimes they interest me, sometimes I gloss right over them.  But the latest - concerning James Galbraith’s The Predator State - has had me reading every word.  Today I picked up the book itself, and if it turns out to be as promising as it seems, I will certainly have a bit to say about it.

The Predator State TPM Cafe is hosting a discussion of James Galbraith's new book The Predator State, and by the looks of Galbraith's opening post, it seems like a provocative read. The Predator State criticizes conservative economics, but that's not the big point. My argument is directed largely at liberals.

James K. Galbraith is an advisor to the Obama campaign, a University of Texas professor of economics, and son of famous JFK advisor John Galbraith. He has a new book out called "The Predator State," and it is well worth a read. The primary goal of the book is not to talk politics, but to talk ideas.
