I need an interesting name for a new project start-up I’m working on recently. I never knew coming up with name can be the hardest. It has to be simple yet catchy. Original yet recognizable. Meaningful yet concise. All those web 2.0 names out there are getting out of control. Jangl. Xpenser. Lunchn.

Jangl, which powers the anonymous calling feature on Match.com and several social networks, has expired. The founders are going to work for Jajah, which powers eHarmony’s anonymous calling service. Sorry to hear the news, I like the Jangl team and their PR team was top notch.

The back-story on Jangl’s slow death — Yesterday, we reported on Jangl’s asset sale process. A tipster tells us that Seattle-based WhitePages had offered to buy Internet phone company Jangl for $20 million, but then kept the company in diligence for more than a month and walked away at the last minute — giving Jangl no choice to but throw in the towel when it ran out of time and options.

Today JAJAH continues its phenomenal growth with an expanded executive team welcoming Michael Cerda and Ben Dean, former Jangl executives. Cerda will take up the position of Vice President Sales and Business Development and Dean will lead the company’s engineering team at JAJAH’s headquarters in Mountain View.

GIGAOM -- May 7 -- Michael Cerda, former CEO of Jangl along with the cofounder, Ben Dean and three other Jangl employees is joining Jajah. "The company was finding its groove in the marketplace, but our investors though it wasn't enough for us to keep going, and decided not to fund us", Cerda said.
