The Tories and the Quebec grits
http://torydrroy.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ tories-and-quebec-grits.htmlADQ is rapidly collapsing in Quebec and I am happy to see that HM PM Stephen Harrper and Premier Jean Charest seems to be on better terms these days. The Tories need Charest's ground troops in any upcoming federal election and a rapprochement was very necessary.

How The "Green Shift" Is Flying Around The Premiers
http://unambig.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ how-green-shift-is-flying-around.htmlIt's interesting to see how the idea of a carbon tax is being welcomed in the various provinces around the country. The carbon tax would be a federal one, but of course each province will have it's own ideas and thoughts about how it would affect them and their economy.

Relax, don’t do it
http://blog.macleans.ca/ 2008/ 06/ 12/ relax-dont-do-it/I got a kick out of this story in today’s La Presse about how Quebec politicians have been kickin’ back and takin’ ‘er easy for the past year: From April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008, the 125 parliamentarians spent 1,102 hours in the House and in parliamentary committees (254 and 848 hours, respectively).

Cap-and-Trade Deal for Ontario and Quebec
http://progressiveright.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ cap-and-trade-deal-for-ontario-a…The premiers of Canada's two largest provinces agree to a deal that would see the two provinces bring about a cap-and-trade policy to control greenhouse gas emissions. The Small Men of Confederation
http://calgarygrit.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ small-men-of-confederation.htmlWith Charest more popular than ever in Quebec, John Baird decides to go on the attack: QUEBEC CITY–An Ontario-Quebec accord on climate change has yet to be officially unveiled, but Ottawa is already slamming it as nothing more than "smoke and mirrors." Premier Dalton McGuinty and Quebec Premier Jean

Spending powerless
http://blog.macleans.ca/ 2008/ 06/ 02/ spending-powerless-2/Here at the sprawling Maclean’s Ottawa nerve centre, we sometimes while away the hours asking one another whatever happened to Stephen Harper’s throne speech commitment to introduce “legislation to place formal limits on the use of federal spending power in areas of provincial jurisdiction without

Ambition versus hyperventilation
http://impolitical.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ ambition-versus-hyperventilation.htmlAs predicted, McGuinty and Charest make John Baird's hyperventilation look like that of a petulant child as they announce their environmental plans today: Charest said he and McGuinty want to align their provinces with more ambitious international plans to cut emissions.

Panic much, Mr. Baird?
http://impolitical.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 06/ panic-much-mr-baird.htmlPicking up where Jim Flaherty left off, another of the Mike Harris crowd is taking a series of shots at Dalton McGuinty and Jean Charest for their imminent announcement of a cap-and-trade system between Ontario and Quebec: "Ottawa slams climate pact." Baird does Flaherty one better, however, by attacking Quebec as well.
