Johnny Depp

Born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, John Christopher "Johnny" Depp II's amazing rise to Hollywood stardom started with the lead role on the popular television police drama 21 Jump Street in 1987.


Johnny Depp is famous for his portrayals of offbeat and eccentric characters. His impressive filmography includes roles in flicks like: Edward Scissorhands (1990), What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (2005) and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (2007).

Of all his roles, however, Johnny Depp became a family favorite for his role as swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy alongside Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom - a role which garnered him his very first Oscar nomination, as well as two Golden Globe nominations in 2004 and 2007, respectively. His films have grossed over $4.7 billion in worldwide box office revenue.

On November 19, 1999 Johnny Depp was awarded with a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

In addition to being an award-winning actor, Johnny Depp is also an accomplished guitar player having collaborated with the likes of Oasis, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Tom Petty.
