Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) are a new type of investment with an excellent record of high rates of stable growth & mostly tax-free (until the ultimate sale) high yields. Despite this performance, they are still little appreciated & understood partially due to poor investor relations by the companies.

MLP Defined A MLP is a master limited partnership. MLPs are publicly traded limited partnerships and operate in the natural resource, financial services, and real estate industries. MLPs have a significant tax advantage over other public companies; MLPs are not subject to the double taxation of public corporations.

On July 16, 2008, KMP increased its quarterly cash distribution per unit to $0.99 from $0.96 which is a 16% increase over the Q2 2007 distribution. Distributable cash flow per unit before certain items was $1.14, up 31 percent from $0.87 per unit for the comparable period last year.
