The lovely Joe’s Pub has been with us for 40 years now and to celebrate they’re having a whole slew of awesome performances from September to December. Things start of with Carl Hancock Rux, who played the first ever show at Joe’s Pub. He’ll be back on September 1 to celebrate and perform sections of his new cabaret opera, Backamoor Angel.

Well, We are at the beginning of a new workweek, and here we have a really dreadful, misty morning. So - I think, that just for this kind of morning (and weather in general ), Keren Ann is the right choice. She is French singer, with quite specific and kinda fragile voice.

The live show that Dean & Britta did at KEXP back on the 15th February is now available to download via the KEXP Live Performances Podcast. Keren Ann is an Israeli-born singer and songwriter best known in France, but her album Not Going Anywhere got some airplay in the United States as well. Check out my favorite tracks: "Not Going Anywhere" and "Sailor and Widow." Not Going Anywhere is a folksy and strange album that draws its influences from all over the musical map: cabaret music, indie pop, you name it.

If that act of falling in love had a universal soundtrack, I think Paris-based chanteuse Keren Ann would make the cut. Why? She makes dreamy mood music, baby—something that she's referred to in the past as "painting in sound." No newcomer to the game, Keren Ann self-produced her fifth, and most recent album, which came out to positive buzz last summer.
