Knitting
Knitting is a functional art form that uses a variety of stitches to create something out of a single strand of yarn. While knitting was once considered to be an old-fashioned or maternal hobby (i.e. grandmothers knitting sweaters or expectant mothers knitting booties), there has recently been a renaissance.
Twenty- and thirty-somethings are taking up knitting in large numbers, and are not content to just knit tea cozies. Scarves, sweaters, hats, tops, and other accessories inspired by popular designers are a common knits, as are things you normally wouldn't associate with knitting, like stuffed monsters, arm slings, and even a womb.

I finished the sweater for Mom last night – yay! Now all I need to do is weave in ends, sew on buttons, take pictures, box it up, and get it in the mail to her. Both the pattern ( February Lady ) and the yarn ( Dream in Color Classy , in the Good Luck Jade colorway) were a pleasure to knit. The buttons were a bit ...4 hours ago -

With long and slow manual work, without using scissors, glue or colors, Ivano Vitali twists strips of torn newsprint tightly, making very long threads, and then winds them into giant balls of yarn. No, normalcy is probably not a word but I simply do not care. I’m back to my old self today, having fully adjusted to the quietness of the house without Matt. I’ve taken to 1) eating junk food and 2) watching lots of TV online. It’s really helping to keep me distracted. Plus, hey, I’ve gotten tons more ...9 hours ago -

The yard sale was not as vigorous as years past but we did make $100 so it was successful as far as I am concerned. This was a truly lovely weekend. We didn’t rush around, the weather was nice, we crossed things off the to-do list, I got work done, got reading done, had a cello lesson, and ate food.
