2001: A Space Odyssey -- From Monkeys to Men
http://www.kogmedia.com/ 2008/ 05/ 2001-space-odyssey-from-monkeys-to-men.htmlI watched about 30 minutes of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey last night before I couldn't hold my eyes open any more. Initial observation: this movie (made in 1968) is a lot slower than what I'm used to (now 40 years later). Audiences in the 60's must have had a more tenacious attention span than we do nowadays.

Star Wars, Kubricks, and Turkey
http://www.toycyte.com/ star-wars-kubricks-and-turkeyMedicom has come out with the ultimate in Star Wars geek merch. The Blue Stars trooper comes out this month as a Kubrick. If you responded with silent shock or tears of joy, then you already know what this means. To everyone else, the Blue Stars Trooper was an odd Turkish bootleg based on the Hoth Stormtrooper and is EXTREMELY rare to see.

Top 10 Stanley Kubrick Films
http://thiswinkis.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ top-10-stanley-kubrick-films.htmlA man of fewer words and the most eclectic taste in making films. None of Kubrick films looks like another. He has experienced action, romance, comedy, horror, war, violence, epic and he has accomplished them in the best way possible. His collection of films alone is a graceful handpicked selection of both classic and contemporary cinema.

Arthur C. Clarke talks about Stanley Kubrick
http://www.sffaudio.com/ ?p=1958Back when websites were websites (in the late 1990s), somebody in Australia started collecting oddnesses. Taking its name from a term in a 1993 article in Wired magazine, Undesirable Propagation Unit is a collection of assorted weirdness - probably there’s some other stuff of interest on the site too (for somebody) but for our purposes there is an old ABC Radio National interview with Arthur C.

Do not ride the bomb.
http://justinwatchesmovies.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ do-not-ride-the-bomb/39. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (Stanley Kubrick, 1964) 3 Things: “Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the War Room!” is a fantastic line. Seeing James Earl Jones as a young man is somehow quite bizarre.

Darth Maul Kubrick With Sith Speeder
http://www.toycyte.com/ darth-maul-kubrick-with-sith-speederIt’s about damn time. When I found out about the Darth Maul with Sith speeder Kubrick about six months ago, I thought it would never come out, yet here it is! Although Phantom Menace was one of the worst/most disappointing movies ever, it did give way to one of the coolest (if not underused) villains.

http://www.toycyte.com/ vintage-kaws-bus-stops-from-nycs-golden-age-of-graffitiJetSet Graffiti has cut together a montage of early KAWS bus stop ‘alterations’ that was shot over 10 years ago in 1997 in New York and Tokyo. The video shows a very young KAWS doing what he does best and includes a brief interview. Music by Danny Steele composed for the Popaganda movie (watch for a brief cameo by Ron English).

Episode 26 - Dr. Strangelove
http://critics.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ episode-26-dr-strangelove/This Week’s Episode: We start out by going over some e-mail responses to our questions. Then we talk about Justice Scalia and his comments about torture. We also discuss Jeremiah Wright and his comments. We review Dr. Strangelove - Tom doesn’t think it is that bad and gives it a 2.85, Cecil thinks it is an absolute failure and gives it a .67.
