    Here's a shocking stat, courtesy of a UK research firm called Futuresource Consulting: Everyone you know is spending all of their time illegally copying DVDs. Futuresource's "white paper", released yesterday and now being widely cited around the Web, says that one-third of all UK and US residents have copied pre-recorded DVDs in the last six months.

    Early analyst calls (MMC) (NCR) Posted Jul 8th 2008 8:05AM by Douglas McIntyre Citigroup upgraded Marsh & McClennan (NYSE:MMC) to "buy" from "hold" according to Briefing.com. The news service also reports that Baird upgraded NCR (NYSE:NCR) to "outperform" from "neutral." Macrovision Solutions (NASDAQ:MVSN) was started as a "buy" at Kaufman Brothers, according to the AP.

    Gemstar-TV Guide (GMST) shares are down sharply this morning ahead of the company’s shareholder meeting tomorrow to vote on the company’s proposed merger into Macrovision (MVSN). Back in December, the two companies agreed to a deal in which Macrovision will acquire GMST for $6.35 a share in cash, or 0.2548 of a share of Macrovision.
