The Real Immigration Double Standard
http://pajamasmedia.com/ blog/ the-immigration-double-standard/The Real Immigration Double Standard by William T. Quick Ruben Navarrette Jr. recently argued that there is a double standard against Mexican flags at rallies in the U.S. But the real double standard is another: punishing immigrants who follow the law and rewarding those who do not.

Whoops! Yesterday was FMS/CFW Awareness Day!
http://technomom.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ whoops-yesterday-was-fmscfw-awareness-day/I intended to post and maybe even try to get a podcast out, but ended up using my energy to do an interview with a reporter. I don’t know when the piece will come out (it wasn’t for awareness day–that was just an amusing coincidence), but I’ll let you know when/if I hear anything.

National Apple Pie Day
http://www.allholidaycafe.com/ national-apple-pie-day/May 13 is National Apple Pie Day and nothing is more American than apple pie… or is it? Apple pie is actually a European creation. The French have “tarte tatin,” the Austrians “apfelstrudel” and the British apple pie. Apples found their way to the United States via the early British colonists who carried over apple seeds and apple tree seedlings.

Every Day in May 7
http://pippasporch.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ every-day-in-may-7.htmlZipper a.k.a. What Was I Thinking? Dear Friend The EveryDayMatters challenge #170 was "Draw A Zipper". And I thought: "How difficult could it be?" Ha! Very difficult, as it turns out. Especially for a rusty newbie. This is not my best work, but I learned SO much! I bunched up a sweater and made several attempts to draw the darned thing.
