http://behind-the-enemy-lines.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ mechanical-turk-worker-qua…Brendan O'Connor from Dolores Labs posted two excellent visualizations (1, 2) of durations of tasks on Mechanical Turk. By looking at these images we can see easily how different workers behave on Mechanical Turk. Some are working systematically and fast, others are slower.

Mechanical Turk Targets Small Business
http://crowdsourcing.typepad.com/ cs/ 2008/ 08/ mechanical-turk.htmlI've long held an ambivalent view toward Amazon's Mechanical Turk, but this week the site launched new features that will make it easier to use. My hope is that this will invigorate the site, bringing much needed variety and imagination to what has been, to my mind, the most mundane application of crowdsourcing to date.

Mechanical Turk Allows Bulk Submissions Using Templates
http://behind-the-enemy-lines.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ mechanical-turk-allows-bul…Mechanical Turk is a very useful service that I have used repeatedly in the past for a variety of tasks. While it was a great tool, one of the shortcomings was the lack of a web-based interface support to create batches of tasks. Using the web it was only possible to create a single task at a time, potentially asking many Turkers to complete it.

Reprioritizing human intelligence tasks for low latency and high throughput on Mechanical Turk
http://www.deaneckles.com/ blog/ 19_reprioritizing-human-intelligence-tasks-for-…Amazon Mechanical Turk is a platform and market for human intelligence tasks (HITs) that are submitted by requesters and completed by workers (or “turkers”). Each HIT is associated with a payment, often a few cents. This post covers some basics of Mechanical Turk and shows its lack of designed-in support for dynamic reprioritization is problematic for some uses.

Reflections on class, 7-21-08
http://terryshort.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 07/ 23/ reflections-on-class-7-21-08/Mike Culver’s presentation about Amazon’s foray into web and Mechanical Turk services was an interesting look at Amazon’s diversification strategy. Neither is an obvious logical extension of Amazon’s core business, and both are good examples of lateral thinking on how to leverage brand assets.
