With the growing trend of downsizing and environmental conscienceless now filtering down into the car industry, without a doubt one of the biggest hot spots in the market is now the newly created premium compact SUV segment. BMW pioneered this area of the market a few years back with their X3 SUV, a downsized 'lifestyle' wagon the size of their 3 series saloon.

The Mercedes-Benz GLK made its debut at the North American International Auto Show this January. However, in the busy land of Hollywood film production, shooting waits for no vehicle. Sex and the City promises to be the blockbuster of the summer, and Mercedes-Benz was eager to get its new release into the film.

The highly anticipated new Mercedes-Benz GLK was recently unveiled at Auto China. The new SUV, which will make its first appearance in North America in 2009, seems destined to be a hit. While the G-class is often considered to have set the standard for SUV design, Mercedes’ dedication to moving forward is apparent in the GLK.
