Activists want pets rescued from volcano

The Coalition for Ethical Control of Urban Fauna, which has been critical of the government’s attention to stranded animals, said the Emergency Bureau offered to carry food to pets in Chaiten, a town 6 miles from the volcano of the same name.

The Coalition for Ethical Control of Urban Fauna didn’t accept the situation and requested that the pets be rescued as well.

Chile: Bachelet’s popularity creeps up

The poll conducted by Chile’s CERC showed that 50% of respondents approved of Bachelet’s mandate compared to 46% in a December CERC poll.

The tribunal voted 5-4 against the program after a group of opposition legislators compared giving away the pill to abortion, a procedure which is illegal in Chile.
