Motivational Speaker

Motivational speakers are hired to energize, educate and entertain audiences at corporate, association and other educational events.

They generally open a conference, presenting the keynote speech or speak at the closing general session. In either case, a motivational speaker will usually deliver a humorous, emotionally compelling (and often provocative) message. Some speakers work with their clients to prepare highly customized motivational speeches.

Motivational speeches generally last between 45 to 90 minutes and popular topics include change management, leadership and team building.

There are no formal qualifications to become a motivational speaker. Training in the basics of speaking can be obtained by joining Toastmasters and the National Speakers Association.

In addition to celebrities such as Tony Robbins and Zig-Ziglar, there is an entire motivational speaking industry. You can find motivational speakers online or use a speakers bureau.
