We’ve finally made it!!!!  After over nine months of waiting, the time has finally come.  The Carolina Panthers are kicking of their 2008 campaign against the San Diego Chargers, tomorrow at Qualcomm Stadium.  After an exciting offseason, filled with cuts and additions, and a very productive preseason, everyone is ready to see what the Panthers have in store for this season.

The Carolina Panthers named their team captains for the 2008 season on Wednesday, and there were a few surprises: Offense Jake Delhomme- Delhomme has proven that he is the heart and soul of this Panthers team.  He is a leader both on the field and off, and has the respect of all his teammates. 

Something about that scene Saturday night with Jason Carter sitting on the sidelines with ice on his knee just didn’t exactly give a Carolina Panthers fan a good feeling.  There’s a reason for that - he’s now on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

That was the scene as the Carolina Panthers hosted their annual Countdown to Kickoff Luncheon at the Charlotte Conventions Center.  Then the team gave those gathered at this occasion a meal.  Yes!  A meal.  In this case it was chicken, rice and green beans.

Banged up is an understatement when referring to the receivers on the Carolina Panthers roster.  Steve Smith is recovering from a concussion, Moose has sore ribs, D.J. Hackett is hurt, Dwayne Jarrett has been ailing.

The Carolina Panthers are getting healthier and they must be doing something right on the practice field.  They were given the day off on Tuesday. They will have to be at work tomorrow morning to watch film but there will be no practice.  Media sources tell us that the team has been putting in better

For the first time since August first, Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith and cornerback Ken Lucas squared off against each other during practice. It appears that the team has completely moved on from the brawl on August first, and it’s good to see both players back on the field practicing.

For a guy who led the NFL, the last two years in dropped passes to say something rude about his ex-team is wrong. Two days ago ex-Chicago Bear Muhsin Muhammad told Peter King of SI.com "That's right.
