The winner of "Nashville Star" is Melissa Lawson. Lawson is a 32-year-old working mother of five from Arlington, Texas. Melissa beat Gabe Garcia, in the finals of the fan-voted talent competition to pick country music's next big star.

The finale of Nashville Star was last night, and it came down between Tex-Mex electrician Gabe Garcia and mother of five boys, Melissa Lawson. However, it was Lawson who walked away with the grand prize of a pickup truck and recording contract with Warner Bros. Nashville.

Arlington, Texas native Melissa Lawson won the coveted title on NBC’s hit show Nashville Star. Winning is just the beginning for Melissa, who will perform her new single What if it All Goes Right live at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing on August 12th. It will be aired on NBC’s Today Show.
