I saw this guy on the news recently.  His name is Nathan Sawaya, and he’s a lego artist.  He’s my new hero. Some of his sculptures are absolutely incredible.  He has dozens of photos on his website www.brickartist.com. Here’s a few examples of his work: Yellow Big Bear Rebirth of New Orleans

A note to college students who think they’re too old to play with toys: check out Nathan Sawaya, a 35-year-old artist who gave up his job as a corporate lawyer to make sculptures out of LEGOs. Sawaya is currently showing an exhibition called “The Art of the Brick” at the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philly.

Artists typically use various mediums to create art and sculptures, from paint and canvas to plaster, stone and acquired metals. But far from just child’s play, some have paved their way to fame with unlikely methods using materials of balloons, Lego bricks, and even old telephones to raise ordinary kid’s toys to the status of incredible art.

This project is named Dispatchwork and is created by Artist Jan Vormann form Collectif 20 Event. They decorate stone walls with Lego brick in the Village of Bocchignano, Italia. Its a pretty cool idea, Hopefully it will stay and no one will break it apart…
